Equipment

  • I used a Bundt pan instead of a normal bread mold. The decorative edges and the top came out very attractive and more apetizing, Although, I wasnt sure if it will work well for banana bread ,but I was very happy with the result.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour All-purpose
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 Cup sugar
  • 1/3 Cup shortening
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 4 medium bananas ripe
  • 1/2 cup walnuts chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350° F.
  • In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl cream sugar and shortening with an electric beater, or by hand held beater, until smooth.
  • Add 1 egg at a time and beat until smooth. Add milk and mix well.
  • Add half of the flour and half of the mashed bananas and continue to mix well before adding rest of the flour and banana. Continue to mix.
  • When all the ingredients are well combined, add finely chopped walnuts and fold the batter to spread the nuts evenly throughout the mixture.
  • Grease, and flour a tube pan and pour the batter in it and smooth it out by tapping the pan gently on the counter.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 55 minutes or until an inserted knife comes out clean.
